WELCOME TO Mekong Regional Indigenous Child Rights Home

What is the MRICRH?

The MRICRH is a community- based support service and safe shelter. It incorporates a Half Way Home, a Child Protection and Rights (CPR) Center for Hill Tribe Children and a twenty-four hour hotline. It is an independent non- Governmental organization. However, it operates in conjunction with the Government Hill Tribe Development and Welfare Centre in Chiang Rai.

What do we do?

The MRICRH supports trafficking victims and children in difficult circumstances. Its work consists of activities to assist children and women in healing, recovering, readjusting, rehabilitation, and personal growth.

Why do we do it?

Children and women in local hill tribes and in the Upper Mekong Region are vulnerable to trafficking and other forms of human rights violations. This is a consequence of the cultural, societal and economical difficulties that these communities face in adjusting to development.

For whom do we do it?

Children and women in Northern Thailand and the Upper Mekong Region who have been trafficked, abused, orphaned, or exploited. The MRICRH focuses particularly on indigenous children. Due to their lack of citizenship, they are especially vulnerable to exploitation.

Where do we work?

The MRICRH is located in Northern Thailand, in close proximity to local hill tribes. It is strategically located to the borders of its neighboring countries in the Upper Mekong Region.
