My name is Non, I am 11 years old and I live at DEPDC. I go swimming everyday and I love it; it is my favourite sport. I started going swimming when I was eight and since then I have won many trophies. I have taken part in lots of competitions and swam for DEPDC and the province. I love to take part in competitions but I also love to swim because it is so much fun and it makes me feel good.
The children at DEPDC participate in three individual sports: running, tennis and swimming, and two team sports: volleyball and football. The training programmes for these are rigorous but the children happily practice everyday, Monday through Saturday, to improve their dedication, fitness and stamina. They then get to show off all their hard work when DEPDC participates in competitive events at local, provincial and national levels.
My name is Gor, I am 13 years old and I live at the DEPDC. Everyday I enjoy playing football with my friends. I like to score lots of goals. Our team is very good and we have a really good coach who teaches all sorts of sports here. I support Manchester United football team and think David Beckham is the best player in the world. One day I would like to be just like him.
Of course sport is also all about fun and games. In their free time the children from the DEPDC and the Half Day School play everything from checkers to table tennis, as well as partaking in regular sports days and offsite activities, such as hiking and outdoor swimming.
My name is Maiphai and I am 17 years old. We play volleyball here everyday after school with one of the sports teachers. We have a girls team and a boys team. I love to play because it keeps me fit and I enjoy the competition. |
