Child Voice Radio

Child trafficking and forced labor affect the whole community. By reaching out, bringing people together and informing them of these and other local issues, we can take one step further in the struggle for better child rights and protection.

Child Voice Radio (CVR) broadcasts to Mae Sai and the surrounding area hoping to achieve this aim. Since much of the programming is provided by the children resident at DEPDC CVR provides a unique opportunity for the children's voice to be heard in the community. The community can also respond via the phone line.

On air from 7am -9pm, six days a week, DJs present shows in Thai and English, as well as local hill tribe languages. Alongside the issues of trafficking and forced labor, the shows cover everything from AIDS awareness to Thai cooking and cater for a wide range in musical tastes, from local traditional music to artists from both Thai and Western popular culture.

The Morning Show aims to reach the local tourists and ex-pats as well as the wider community. The show broadcasts from 08.00 to 09.00 Monday to Friday and is presented by a range of foreign volunteers. It covers local stories and events, international news, worldwide customs, literature and entertainment and information on regional issues.

Child Help Line (CHL)

Child Help Line was set up in 2004 as a crisis phone line for children who are in need of help or advice regarding abuse, trafficking or exploitation. The line is manned 24 hours a day and is also available to anyone within the community who is concerned about the welfare of a child. The number can be found on our contact page.

Internet Streaming

CVR now broadcasts live and archived programming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, streaming to countries across the world and bringing the issues of child trafficking and the work of DEPDC to a truly international audience.
